Vanier Children's Mental Wellness provides programs, services, and support for children, youth, and families within the community. The campaign was developed to increase awareness of these resources through approachable and engaging visual communication that speaks directly to the families who may benefit from them.
The visual system was designed to remain consistent across multiple campaign formats while adapting to different environments and viewing experiences. Clear messaging, welcoming imagery, and an accessible visual approach work together to make information about children's mental wellness feel easier to understand, recognize, and engage with.

The challenge was to communicate children's mental wellness in a way that felt approachable and supportive without minimizing the seriousness of the subject. The campaign needed to speak to parents and caregivers while maintaining a visual tone that felt welcoming, trustworthy, and appropriate for the families Vanier serves.
Mental health messaging can easily become overwhelming or overly clinical, particularly when families are already searching for support. Information needed to be clear and easy to understand, with strong hierarchy and concise messaging that could communicate effectively across both public advertising and smaller digital formats.
The campaign also needed to remain recognizable across very different environments and viewing conditions. Whether encountered quickly on a billboard, viewed at closer range on a bus shelter, or discovered through social media, each piece needed to feel connected to the same campaign while communicating its message clearly and effectively.
The visual direction was developed to make children's mental wellness feel approachable, human, and accessible while maintaining the credibility of an established mental health organization. Bright colour, expressive imagery, clear typography, and generous spacing create an inviting visual language that helps soften the subject matter without diminishing its importance.
Consistency across the campaign was established through repeated typography, colour, imagery, and structured messaging. Each format could then adapt to its own viewing environment while remaining immediately connected to the larger campaign, creating a flexible system that feels recognizable whether encountered in the community or through digital media.

The billboard series was designed to communicate quickly and effectively within a large-scale advertising environment. Strong visual hierarchy, concise messaging, and prominent imagery allow each piece to be understood at a glance while maintaining a clear connection to Vanier Children's Mental Wellness.
Each billboard carries its own message while following the same established campaign system, allowing the series to work together as a recognizable collection. The designs were also tested using a 50-meter distance simulation to evaluate how effectively the messaging, imagery, hierarchy, and branding remained visible under realistic viewing conditions.
The bus shelter series adapts the campaign to a vertical format and a closer viewing environment, allowing the messaging and imagery to have a stronger presence at pedestrian level. The compositions maintain clear hierarchy and immediate recognition while taking advantage of the additional viewing time available within the transit setting.
Each piece carries the established campaign language into the new format through consistent typography, colour, imagery, and branding. The layouts were adjusted to work naturally within the taller proportions of the shelter displays and were tested using a 5-meter distance simulation to evaluate the clarity of the messaging, hierarchy, imagery, and branding within a realistic pedestrian viewing environment.

The social media series brings the campaign into a more personal digital environment, where audiences have additional time to engage with the messaging and learn more about the programs, resources, and support available through Vanier. The smaller format required the visual hierarchy to remain clear and immediate while allowing each individual post to communicate its message effectively within a familiar social media setting.
Consistent typography, colour, imagery, and established campaign elements connect the social posts directly to the billboard and bus shelter series. Adapting the same visual system across both digital and environmental applications creates a unified and recognizable campaign experience, allowing families to encounter consistent messaging whether they discover Vanier within the community or while engaging with content through their social media feeds.
The completed campaign establishes a cohesive and approachable visual system that carries Vanier Children's Mental Wellness across both community and digital environments. Each application responds to its individual format, audience, and viewing conditions while maintaining consistent messaging, imagery, typography, and recognizable campaign elements that connect every piece back to the larger visual identity.
Together, the campaign creates a flexible foundation for communicating children's mental wellness in a clear, welcoming, and accessible way across a variety of public-facing environments. The visual system can continue to expand across additional formats and community touchpoints while maintaining the supportive tone, visual consistency, and recognizable identity established throughout the campaign.
