A complete packaging redesign that reimagines the Garmin Forerunner 265 through bold visuals, modern structure, and performance-driven communication.
The redesigned packaging creates a stronger shelf presence while organizing the watch's technology and performance features into a clearer, more engaging visual experience.
The Garmin Forerunner 265 packaging redesign focused on creating a stronger visual experience for a performance-driven product. The existing package was reimagined with bold graphics, dynamic typography, and a more energetic visual direction that better reflects the technology and active lifestyle associated with the watch.
The project extended beyond the surface graphics to consider the complete physical package, including the dieline, panel organization, and placement of product information. Each element was designed to work together as one cohesive system, balancing visual impact with the practical requirements of retail packaging.

BALANCING IMPACT & INFORMATION
The challenge was to redesign the Garmin Forerunner 265 packaging in a way that better reflected the performance, technology, and energy of the product. The package needed a stronger visual presence while remaining recognizable and appropriate for an established technology brand.
With a feature-rich product, the packaging also needed to communicate a significant amount of information without becoming visually overwhelming. Creating a clear hierarchy across the different panels was essential so that specifications, product benefits, imagery, and branding could each have an intentional place within the design.
The physical structure added another layer to the challenge. Every panel had to function within the dieline and account for folds, edges, orientation, and assembly while maintaining continuity across the complete package. The result needed to work not only as a flat design, but as a cohesive three-dimensional object once constructed.
ENERGY THROUGH VISUAL DIRECTION
The redesign was approached as a complete packaging system rather than a series of individual panels. Bold colour, strong contrast, dynamic graphic elements, and structured typography were used to reflect the performance-driven nature of the Forerunner 265 while keeping the product itself at the centre of the overall visual experience.
Visual consistency was carried throughout the entire package through repeated graphic elements, typography, and intentional information placement. Each panel was designed to serve a specific purpose while remaining clearly connected to the overall composition, creating a package that feels cohesive, intentional, and visually engaging from every viewing angle.

DESIGNING FOR STRUCTURE
The dieline provided the foundation for the entire packaging system, establishing the dimensions, folds, panels, and structural relationships that the finished design needed to accommodate. Designing within this framework required considering how each element would function independently on the flat layout while also contributing to the complete experience of the fully assembled package.
Particular attention was given to how graphics and information interacted with folds, edges, and adjoining panels throughout the design. Placement had to account for orientation, alignment, and physical construction while maintaining a natural visual flow around the box. This ensured that every panel remained connected to the larger visual system and that the finished package felt cohesive and intentional from every viewing angle.
BUILDING VISUAL CONTINUITY
With the structure established, the visual system was developed to create continuity and a strong sense of movement across every panel of the package. Graphic elements extend beyond individual surfaces, helping guide the eye naturally around the box while reinforcing the energetic, performance-focused nature of the Forerunner 265.
Product imagery, typography, specifications, and supporting information were carefully positioned to give each panel a clear purpose without allowing any one area to feel disconnected from the overall design. Repeated visual elements maintain consistency throughout the package while allowing the content and hierarchy to adapt naturally to the different sizes, orientations, and functional requirements of each individual panel. Together, these decisions create a clear and unified experience across the complete package.

ORGANIZING COMPLEX CONTENT
The Forerunner 265 communicates a wide range of features, specifications, and product benefits, making clear information hierarchy an important part of the overall packaging design. Content was carefully organized to prioritize the most relevant information first, allowing customers to quickly understand the product and its key capabilities while still providing the supporting technical details expected from performance-focused retail packaging.
Typography, spacing, imagery, and visual grouping were used to separate different types of information and create a clear reading path across the package. This approach keeps the content accessible and easy to navigate while allowing the more expressive graphic elements to maintain the energy and visual impact of the overall design.
The completed redesign brings visual impact, information hierarchy, and structural consideration together into one cohesive packaging system. From the flat dieline through to the assembled box, each element works together to create a more energetic and engaging product presentation that reflects the performance, innovation, and technology behind the Garmin Forerunner 265.
The final package balances expressive visual design with clear communication and practical retail functionality, creating a cohesive experience that feels intentional, polished, and considered from every viewing angle.
